Biaufond est un lieu surprenant. A la fois, il s\u2019agit d\u2019un endroit idyllique r\u00e9put\u00e9 comme destination de promenade en \u00e9t\u00e9 et ce, depuis des ann\u00e9es. En m\u00eame temps, il s\u2019agit d\u2019un lieu charg\u00e9 d\u2019histoire et qui a connu des moments inhabituels lors de la derni\u00e8re guerre.<\/p>

De plus, beaucoup de gens ignorent qu\u2019apr\u00e8s la cr\u00e9ation du canton du Jura en 1978, la fronti\u00e8re commune entre ce canton et le canton de Neuch\u00e2tel, ne repr\u00e9sente qu\u2019une distance de 250m. Cette fronti\u00e8re commune repr\u00e9sente un tout petit tron\u00e7on entre le canton de Berne et la France. Si l\u2019on se trouve \u00e0 Biaufond et qu\u2019on regarde par-del\u00e0 le lac homonyme, on remarquera une borne fronti\u00e8re se trouvant au milieu de l\u2019eau. Cette borne marque la fronti\u00e8re et la France et la Suisse. Pourquoi se trouve-t-elle au milieu de l\u2019eau\u00a0? Il faut remonter dans le temps (au d\u00e9but du XX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle) pour constater que la construction du barrage du Refrain, inaugur\u00e9 en 1909, a passablement chang\u00e9 l\u2019aspect du Doubs \u00e0 cet endroit. En effet, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 se trouve actuellement le Lac de Biaufond, cette rivi\u00e8re coulait quelques 10m plus bas que le niveau de l\u2019eau actuel.<\/p>

Biaufond se trouve \u00e9galement au bout de la combe homonyme qui n\u2019est rien d\u2019autre que la vall\u00e9e qu\u2019avait creus\u00e9e la Ronde, le ruisseau s\u2019\u00e9coulant depuis La Chaux-de-Fonds. Il faut utiliser l\u2019imparfait car, m\u00eame s\u2019il est certain que c\u2019est ce ruisseau qui avait creus\u00e9 ce vallon, le cheminement actuel de l\u2019eau n\u2019est pas clairement \u00e9tabli. Quelques essais de coloration avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9s au milieu du si\u00e8cle pass\u00e9, mais avec des r\u00e9sultats contradictoires.<\/p>

Un sentier parcourt la Combe de Biaufond. Celui-ci est, contrairement aux sentiers de la r\u00e9gion, balis\u00e9 comme sentier de montagne (donc en blanc-rouge-blanc). De plus, \u00e0 chaque bout du sentier de la Combe de Biaufond, un panneau de mise en garde a \u00e9t\u00e9 appos\u00e9 appelant \u00e0 la prudence. Il y est \u00e9galement pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 que le cheminement est r\u00e9serv\u00e9 aux personnes exemptes de vertige. M\u00eame si la mise en garde peut sembler exag\u00e9r\u00e9e, elle prend tout son sens en consid\u00e9rant que la plupart des autres sentiers environnants sont des chemins p\u00e9destres ne n\u00e9cessitant pas de comp\u00e9tences particuli\u00e8res. Il est donc compr\u00e9hensible que l\u2019on cherche \u00e0 \u00e9viter que des pratiquants peu exp\u00e9riment\u00e9s ne s\u2019aventurent sur ce sentier.<\/p>

Au d\u00e9part de Biaufond, le sentier de la Combe de Biaufond c\u00f4toie un bout la Ronde, qui au d\u00e9bouch\u00e9 sur le Lac de Biaufond, forme un petit plan d\u2019eau. Le sentier, au d\u00e9but, ne pr\u00e9sente pas d\u2019accident de terrain marqu\u00e9. Ce n\u2019est que lorsque la gorge change de direction que l\u2019on se retrouve face \u00e0 quelques \u00e9chelles et ponts permettant de surmonter le premier verrou. A partir de cet endroit, le sentier devient un peu plus accident\u00e9, change de rive du vallon et monte en direction d\u2019une grotte dont la vo\u00fbte d\u2019entr\u00e9e se voit de loin. Apr\u00e8s la grotte, on change encore une fois de rive avant d\u2019atteindre une section d\u2019apparence tr\u00e8s d\u00e9vast\u00e9e de la gorge. On y trouve des arbres abattus et des blocs de rocher entass\u00e9s p\u00eale-m\u00eale et il est difficile de saisir si le ravage est la cons\u00e9quence d\u2019un \u00e9boulement ou si, au contraire, des arbres ont \u00e9t\u00e9 abattus, ce qui a favoris\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9rosion. Apr\u00e8s deux petits ponts et un changement de rive, on atteint une cuvette de laquelle on voit clairement la suite\u00a0: de grandes \u00e9chelles permettant de sortir de la gorge.<\/p>

La sortie de la gorge par les \u00e9chelles est rendue n\u00e9cessaire car, plus haut, un \u00e9boulement ancien a compl\u00e8tement d\u00e9vast\u00e9 le vallon. C\u2019est cet \u00e9boulement qui est \u00e0 l\u2019origine du plan d\u2019eau du Cul des Pr\u00e9s. Ce plan d\u2019eau est de niveau tr\u00e8s variable et on peut, selon les ann\u00e9es et les saisons, trouver de l\u2019eau pratiquement jusqu\u2019\u00e0 La Planche.<\/p>

Au sortir des \u00e9chelles on peut poursuivre en direction du Cul des Pr\u00e9s et, au-del\u00e0, monter soit aux Bois, soit \u00e0 la Ferri\u00e8re. Ici, j\u2019avais d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d\u2019emprunter un bon chemin menant au Bas des Brandt. A partir de cette ferme, il m\u2019\u00e9tait alors facile de suivre un bon chemin descendant en direction du Doubs et gagnant la rive de celui-ci au pont de Biaufond.<\/p>
