Die Geschichte der Gemmi ist faszinierend, denn trotz der verschiedenen durchgef\u00fchrten Studien gibt es eine Reihe von Unbekannten.<\/p>

Der Gemmi-\u00dcbergang liegt auf der direktesten Linie, die von Bern in die Poebene f\u00fchrt. Nat\u00fcrlich gibt es einen \u00dcbergang \u00fcber den Grimselpass und den Griesspass, aber das ist nicht die direkteste Route von Bern aus. Von hier aus f\u00fchrt der direkteste Weg durch die Berner Alpenkette \u00fcber die Gemmi oder \u00fcber den L\u00f6tschenpass und weiter \u00fcber den Simplonpass. Unter den genannten P\u00e4ssen ist der L\u00f6tschenpass derjenige, der die meisten arch\u00e4ologischen Funde freigelegt hat, und wir k\u00f6nnen davon ausgehen, dass er trotz seiner viel gr\u00f6sseren H\u00f6he als die Gemmi (mehr als 350 m) privilegiert gewesen sein muss. Der Gemmi Pass bietet jedoch eine interessante Variante, da er deutlich tiefer liegt und leichter zug\u00e4nglich ist. Doch auf der Leukerbader Seite versperrt eine hohe Felswand den Zugang.<\/p>

Diese Wand d\u00fcrfte den \u00e4lteren Generationen zu schaffen gemacht haben und es ist fast sicher, dass der \u00dcbergang \u00fcber die Alte Gemmi, die viel h\u00f6her und umst\u00e4ndlicher ist, eine Zeit lang bevorzugt wurde. F\u00fcr diejenigen, die von Bern kamen, war es sicherlich einfacher, den L\u00f6tschenpass zu \u00fcberqueren, da er tiefer in der H\u00f6he lag.<\/p>

Als die grosse Mauer auf einem Weg \u00fcberquert werden konnte, begannen sich die Gewohnheiten zu \u00e4ndern. Doch wann kam es zu dieser Ver\u00e4nderung? Wir haben zu diesem Thema nur sehr wenige Informationen. Sicher ist, dass in Dokumenten aus dem 16. Jahrhundert eine Sanierung des Weges zur Gemmi erw\u00e4hnt wird. Es wird auch von einer an Ketten h\u00e4ngenden Br\u00fccke \u00fcber eine Schlucht gesprochen. Dies deutet darauf hin, dass es bereits vor dem 16. Jahrhundert einen Weg gab, aber seit wie lange? N\u00e4here Informationen sind derzeit nicht verf\u00fcgbar.<\/p>

Der heutige Weg, dem wir von Leukerbad aus der Gemmi folgen, stammt aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Es wurde konzipiert, um Vieh aus dem Wallis auf die Gemmi-Almen zu treiben.<\/p>

Wenn man die Grosse Wand von Leukerbad aus betrachtet, kann man kaum glauben, dass ein Weg sie \u00fcberwinden kann. Wir k\u00f6nnen den m\u00f6glichen Weg auch nicht mit unseren Augen verfolgen. Erst wenn man mit dem Aufstieg beginnt, versteht man, dass man dir Gemmi ohne allzu grosse Probleme erreichen kann. Wenn man mit der Seilbahn wieder nach unten f\u00e4hrt, hat man dann einen sehr detaillierten Blick auf diese spektakul\u00e4re Route.<\/p>
