Ce jour-l\u00e0, la m\u00e9t\u00e9o annonc\u00e9e n\u2019\u00e9tait pas trop mauvaise. En m\u00eame temps, pour des raisons pratiques, nous avions privil\u00e9gi\u00e9 le secteur de Boudry. Cependant, nous n\u2019avions absolument pas envie de suivre le sentier des gorges de l\u2019Areuse et ce pour deux raisons. D\u2019abord, la partie haute, du c\u00f4t\u00e9 du Saut de Brot \u00e9tait ferm\u00e9e pour des raisons de travaux. De plus, vu la saison, il \u00e9tait pratiquement certain que le sentier des gorges serait \u00e0 l\u2019ombre toute la journ\u00e9e. Dans le train nous amenant au Champ du Moulin, nous avons \u00e9t\u00e9 surpris par le nombre de voyageurs. Certains, d\u2019apr\u00e8s les discussions, avaient le projet de descendre les Gorges de l\u2019Areuse, d\u2019autres de monter au Creux du Van.<\/p>

Depuis le Champ du Moulin, au lieu de descendre vers l\u2019Areuse, il s\u2019agit dans un premier temps de suivre la route goudronn\u00e9e, heureusement peu fr\u00e9quent\u00e9e. Dans un virage, apr\u00e8s avoir march\u00e9 500m, on quitte la route pour emprunter un sentier \u00e9voluant au-dessus de la voie de chemin de fer. Ce sentier doit \u00eatre certainement emprunt\u00e9 par les ouvriers qui doivent inspecter les filets de protection. Il pr\u00e9sente de courtes mont\u00e9es et descentes, ce qui r\u00e9sulte en une certaine d\u00e9nivellation.<\/p>

Il y a deux aspects qui nous ont particuli\u00e8rement plu en suivant cet itin\u00e9raire. D\u2019abord, on \u00e9volue en bonne partie au soleil, m\u00eame en cette saison. M\u00eame si on entend couler l\u2019Areuse au fond, on n\u2019envie pas ceux qui suivent le sentier des gorges\u00a0: ils \u00e9voluent dans l\u2019ombre du d\u00e9but \u00e0 la fin. Ensuite, ce sentier, non publi\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019envi sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux, attire moins de monde. On marche donc dans un environnement assez solitaire.<\/p>

Apr\u00e8s avoir franchi quelques combes assez profondes et ombrag\u00e9es, on monte de mani\u00e8re assez raide afin de rejoindre une petite construction dominant les voies de chemin de fer, baptis\u00e9e \u00e0 propos \u00ab\u00a0Le Belv\u00e9d\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb. Depuis cet endroit, on a une vue sur le vallon de l\u2019Areuse et sur une partie du Creux du Van.<\/p>

Un peu plus loin, on passe devant la Grotte de Cottencher, dont l\u2019entr\u00e9e ne se trouve pas directement au niveau du sentier, mais un peu plus haut le long d\u2019une barre de rochers. Des traces au sol indiquent clairement le chemin. Cette grotte est normalement ferm\u00e9e, au vu de l\u2019importance pr\u00e9historique de celle-ci. En effet, on y a trouv\u00e9 une quantit\u00e9 importante d\u2019objets datant du pal\u00e9olithique moyen. On est donc plong\u00e9 loin en arri\u00e8re dans la pr\u00e9histoire. Ce site est d\u2019une importance nationale puisqu\u2019une partie des t\u00e9moignages les plus anciens d\u2019occupation de la Suisse se trouvent ici.<\/p>

Apr\u00e8s avoir rejoint Chambrelien, on peu descendre vers Boudry en rejoignant la fin des Gorges de l\u2019Areuse. Mais au lieu de descendre directement, il vaut la peine d\u2019aller au point de vue mentionn\u00e9 sur les panneaux indicateurs. La vue y est moins d\u00e9gag\u00e9e qu\u2019au Belv\u00e9d\u00e8re mais n\u00e9anmoins tr\u00e8s belle. Au lieu de revenir sur ses pas pour suivre le sentier balis\u00e9, on peut facilement longer le bord des rochers pour passer pr\u00e8s du gouffre de la Grotte de Vert et atteindre le sentier descendant dans les gorges. L\u00e0, l\u2019ambiance change du tout au tout puisqu\u2019au fond des gorges, on se trouve dans l\u2019ombre et que c\u2019est tr\u00e8s humide. \u00c9galement, on croise tout \u00e0 coup beaucoup plus de monde.<\/p>

Plus loin, on passe devant l\u2019usine \u00e9lectrique du Chanet \u00e0 travers les vitres de laquelle on peut les b\u00e2ches en spirale sur lesquelles on a l\u2019inscription \u00ab\u00a0Picard et Pictet & Cie Gen\u00e8ve 1913\u00a0\u00bb. Cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de construction m\u00e9canique \u00e9tait surtout connue pour la production d\u2019automobiles de luxe, les fameuses Pic-pic. Cette entreprise avait fait faillite peu apr\u00e8s la premi\u00e8re guerre mondiale et c\u2019est pour limiter les pertes financi\u00e8res qu\u2019une nouvelle soci\u00e9t\u00e9 avait \u00e9t\u00e9 fond\u00e9e, les r\u00e9put\u00e9s Ateliers des Charmilles.<\/p>
