<\/p>

Mont Aubert is the first hill dominating Lake Neuch\u00e2tel above Concise and although its altitude is only a little over 1200m, there are a few nice viewpoints. One of them is a place with an evocative name: Sur la Roche. The name is evocative because there is only a rock ridge across the Jura slope above Concise and the viewpoint is at the end and above this rock ridge. The view is open towards Lake Neuch\u00e2tel and the Yverdon-les-Bains region. The view also faces the Vaud and Fribourg Prealps.<\/p>

On that day, we parked near the army exercise area at Les Rochats. This is a convenient place to start the hike, but it is necessary to check that the army has not planned any exercises in the area. You should therefore check the shooting notices for the area. From there, we had started to follow the tarmac road leading to the Val de Travers before taking the marked trail leading to the Serrolliets. After a short climb, we reached the pastures near the Petit Serroliet. From there, the view opens a little, especially towards the Soliat. From the Grand Serroliet, you can see the Jura range leading to the Aiguilles de Baulmes.<\/p>

We had not climbed to the top of Mont Aubert because it is partly covered with trees which hide in the view. We followed the marked trail below the hill and leading to Sur la Roche. From the viewpoint, we climbed to the Restaurant des G\u00e9linottes and then descended on the other side along a vaguely marked trail towards Cavasson. There, a forest path crossing the Joux de Mutrux detaches and allows you to return to the starting point without making large detours.<\/p>
