<\/p>

Nonobstant le fait que le Gasteretal soit une vieille connaissance pour moi, je n\u2019avais, dans le cadre de stages de formation, jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Selde. J\u2019\u00e9tais \u00e9galement plusieurs fois descendu dans cette vall\u00e9e en venant de la Gemmi et en passant par le spectaculaire sentier du Gurnigel, mais jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 plus loin dans la vall\u00e9e.<\/p>

Ici, nous nous \u00e9tions rendus \u00e0 Selde car notre intention \u00e9tait de traverser le L\u00f6tschepass le lendemain. Au d\u00e9part de la gare de Kandersteg, nous avions suivi la Kander le long de sa rive gauche. M\u00eame si cela signifie effectuer un d\u00e9tour, le parcours le long de cette rive est avantageux, car on n\u2019est pas g\u00ean\u00e9 par la circulation, m\u00eame si celle-ci n\u2019est pas tr\u00e8s importante. Apr\u00e8s les b\u00e2timents du centre international de scoutisme, le sentier balis\u00e9 continue en rive gauche, mais un peu plus \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cart du torrent.<\/p>

A Eggeschwand, on doit revenir un petit bout en direction de Kandersteg pour pouvoir monter le long de la Kander qui bient\u00f4t se transforme en torrent imp\u00e9tueux. La Chluse est un endroit impressionnant car l\u2019eau cr\u00e9e un fracas assourdissant, que l\u2019on retrouve en peu d\u2019autres endroits des Alpes Suisses, les torrents \u00e9tants souvent d\u00e9vi\u00e9s pour alimenter des barrages.<\/p>

Apr\u00e8s \u00eatre remont\u00e9s la Chluse, nous nous sommes retrouv\u00e9s dans le fond du Gasteretal. Le contraste est alors saisissant, car au fracas de l\u2019eau descendant en cascade, suit le discret clapotis de l\u2019eau suivant un lit presque \u00e0 plat. Apr\u00e8s avoir d\u00e9pass\u00e9s le Waldhus, nous avions travers\u00e9 le Gastereholz en suivant le sentier balis\u00e9. A un moment, on voit se d\u00e9tacher le sentier grimpant \u00e0 la Balmhornh\u00fctte et on a de la peine \u00e0 imaginer le parcours de celui-ci \u00e0 travers les grandes parois de rochers. Seules quelques personnes le parcourant permettent de voir par o\u00f9 cela passe. Un peu plus loin, nous avons encore suivi un large sentier amenant pr\u00e8s du pied de la cascade descendant du Balmhorn. L\u2019endroit est spectaculaire, mais un peu g\u00e2ch\u00e9, car on y trouve des restes de munition d\u2019exercice de l\u2019arm\u00e9e.<\/p>

Apr\u00e8s avoir chang\u00e9 trois fois de rive, on se trouve au pied de la derni\u00e8re mont\u00e9e en direction de Selde. Le sentier d\u00e9crit quelques lacets et rejoint la route un peu plus haut. On suit alors la route goudronn\u00e9e jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Selde o\u00f9 se trouvent deux auberges de montagne.<\/p>
