<\/p>

The Trans Swiss Trail is the long-distance hiking trail that starts in the north-west of Switzerland, more precisely in Porrentruy, and crosses the country from north to south, ending in Mendrisio near the Italian border. It crosses the Gotthard after passing through the Jura, the Swiss Plateau and the Emmental. In the Ticino part of the trail, it runs along the high banks of the Ticino River before reaching the Sottoceneri.<\/p>

We started from Porrentruy, where a few light rains had delayed our departure. The first part of the trail, which starts from the train station, passes through the pretty town of Porrentruy before entering the fields and forests and reaching the crest of the Chainions.<\/p>

From there, we follow another stretch of the crest from which we can see the Doubs River from time to time before descending towards the river, which we reach in St-Ursanne. It is worthwhile to spend a little time strolling around the small medieval town (which is quite touristy). Do not forget that to catch the train, you must climb a bit to reach the railway line.<\/p>

This stage is not very interesting because there are few viewpoints. One often walks in the forest or along the edge of the forest. It is only around Porrentruy and St-Ursanne that it is interesting.<\/p>
