Lorsque l\u2019on monte le Val de Travers, on ne manquera pas de remarquer au loin un curieux trait vertical surmont\u00e9 d\u2019un b\u00e2timent. Cet endroit se trouve \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur de la s\u00e9paration du Val de Travers en deux vall\u00e9es\u00a0: celle de Buttes et celle montant aux Verri\u00e8res. De loin, on ne distingue pas clairement de quoi le trait vertical est fait. Mais il s\u2019agit d\u2019un \u00e9peron calcaire montant au sommet du Chapeau de Napol\u00e9on.<\/p>

Je m\u2019\u00e9tais dit que ce serait certainement une destination int\u00e9ressante pour une randonn\u00e9e. De plus, il y a possibilit\u00e9 de rallonger un peu et d\u2019aller visiter des lieux mythiques de la r\u00e9gion.<\/p>

Au d\u00e9part de Fleurier, il s\u2019agit de gagner le Chapeau de Napol\u00e9on. Il n\u2019y a pas vraiment de difficult\u00e9s, c\u2019est tr\u00e8s bien indiqu\u00e9. Cependant, qu\u2019on ne s\u2019y trompe pas\u00a0: \u00e7a commence tout de suite tr\u00e8s raide, ce qui est un peu rude, surtout lorsqu\u2019on est encore froid. Plus haut, lorsque le sentier commence \u00e0 faire des lacets, la pente de celui-ci diminue un peu et la mont\u00e9e devient presque agr\u00e9able. Malgr\u00e9 le balisage en jaune, il y a quelques petits passages \u00e0 travers les rochers. Certes, des marches y sont taill\u00e9es et des cha\u00eenes sont \u00e0 disposition, mais ces passages pourraient causer des soucis \u00e0 qui n\u2019a pas vraiment l\u2019habitude de ces passages.<\/p>

Apr\u00e8s la mont\u00e9e, on d\u00e9bouche au-dessus de l\u2019esplanade o\u00f9 se trouve le b\u00e2timent du Chapeau de Napol\u00e9on. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019un ancien restaurant qui a entretemps et r\u00e9cemment \u00e9t\u00e9 transform\u00e9 en atelier d\u2019horloger (il doit y avoir pire comme situation pour travailler). \u00a0Quoi qu\u2019il en soit, ni le parking, ni la terrasse ne sont accessibles pour profiter de la vue. Il faut, pour la vue, monter un tout petit peu pour rejoindre le Belv\u00e9d\u00e8re. On y trouve de la vue, mais qui ne doit pas \u00eatre celle que l\u2019on pourrait avoir depuis l\u2019ancien restaurant.<\/p>

Au-del\u00e0, on continue \u00e0 grimper sur une cr\u00eate qui devient de moins en moins pentue. C\u2019est \u00e0 l\u2019approche de Chez le Banderet que le sentier s\u2019aplatit sensiblement. Si vous d\u00e9cidez de suivre le parcours, regardez bien autour de vous, les p\u00e2turages sont fr\u00e9quent\u00e9s par des chamois. Depuis Chez le Banderet, je suis encore mont\u00e9 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la ferme de Chez Juvet, avant de suivre un bon chemin descendant en direction de Vers chez le Gros. La descente en direction du Haut de la Tour s\u2019est fait le long de chemins forestiers. Le probl\u00e8me, c\u2019est qu\u2019on avait r\u00e9cemment effectu\u00e9 du d\u00e9bardage et le chemin en est devenu tr\u00e8s boueux.<\/p>

Depuis le Haut de la Tour, on descend le long de l\u2019ancien chemin menant \u00e0 Saint-Sulpice. On ne manquera pas de remarquer un bout de cha\u00eene scell\u00e9e dans la roche avec une date\u00a0: 1475. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019un barrage qui avait \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9rig\u00e9 \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque afin de dissuader une invasion \u00e0 partir de la Bourgogne. Un bout de cha\u00eene est expos\u00e9 au mus\u00e9e \u00e0 Fleurier. Cet endroit est indiqu\u00e9 comme \u00ab\u00a0Barrage fortifi\u00e9 du Tour Bayard\u00a0\u00bb sur la carte topographique.<\/p>

Plus bas, le sentier balis\u00e9 quitte la route asphalt\u00e9e pour descendre directement vers la Source de l\u2019Areuse. L\u2019endroit lui-m\u00eame m\u00e9rite qu\u2019on s\u2019y rende car, au pied d\u2019une paroi imposante, on voit sortir l\u2019eau qui a d\u00fb s\u2019infiltrer \u00e0 travers le calcaire un peu plus haut. Je peux imaginer qu\u2019au plus chaud de l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9, les places doivent \u00eatre ch\u00e8res au bord de ce plan d\u2019eau. M\u00eame Jean-Jacques Rousseau y s\u2019\u00e9tait rendu et avait d\u00e9crit son aventure.<\/p>

Plus bas, on ne tarde pas \u00e0 entrer dans le village de Saint-Sulpice. On sera probablement surpris d\u2019y voir un b\u00e2timent avec une enseigne \u00ab\u00a0Buffet de la Gare\u00a0\u00bb. En y regardant de plus pr\u00e8s, on constate qu\u2019une voie de chemin de fer existent encore entre Fleurier et Saint-Sulpice. Quand on remarque que jusque dans les ann\u00e9es 70 existait une cimenterie \u00e0 Saint -Sulpice, on comprend mieux la pr\u00e9sence des voies. Toutefois, le b\u00e2timent du Buffet de la Gare semble bien plus ancien.<\/p>
