J\u2019habite depuis peu dans le canton de Neuch\u00e2tel et ce d\u00e9m\u00e9nagement m\u2019a amen\u00e9 \u00e0 rechercher d\u2019autres destinations de randonn\u00e9es auxquelles j\u2019\u00e9tais habitu\u00e9. En cons\u00e9quence, cela fait un bon moment que je regarde m\u00e9ticuleusement la carte nationale suisse pour essayer de trouver une belle randonn\u00e9e \u00e0 effectuer. C\u2019est ainsi qu\u2019en regardant la carte de plus pr\u00e8s, j\u2019avais \u00e9t\u00e9 surpris de voir que le sentier quittant les Convers en direction du Creux pr\u00e9sentait des talus qui manifestement n\u2019\u00e9taient pas naturels. J\u2019avais cru, au d\u00e9part, qu\u2019il s\u2019agissait des d\u00e9blais des percements des tunnels des Loges et du Mont-Sagne. En cherchant, j\u2019ai constat\u00e9 qu\u2019il n\u2019en \u00e9tait rien et que l\u2019histoire de cette ligne \u00e9tait passionnante. En effet, peu apr\u00e8s l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance du canton de Neuch\u00e2tel en 1848, la ligne La Chaux-de-Fonds \u2013 Neuch\u00e2tel avait \u00e9t\u00e9 inaugur\u00e9e (en 1860\u2026 on ne tra\u00eenait pas \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque). Les bernois avaient alors eu le projet de relier Bienne \u00e0 La Chaux-de-Fonds par le Vallon de Saint-Imier. Les finances \u00e9tant pr\u00e9caires, il fut d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de se raccorder \u00e0 la ligne de Neuch\u00e2tel aux Convers. Cela avait n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 le percement d\u2019un court tunnel, de 135m au lieu d\u2019un tunnel beaucoup plus long sous le Mont Cornu. L\u2019inconv\u00e9nient \u00e9tait alors que cela n\u00e9cessitait un rebroussement aux Convers, ce qui posait de gros probl\u00e8mes \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque des locomotives \u00e0 vapeur. L\u2019exploitation de cette solution n\u2019aurait dur\u00e9 que 14 ans, puisqu\u2019en 1888, le tunnel du Mont Cornu fut inaugur\u00e9 et le trac\u00e9 le Creux \u2013 les Convers abandonn\u00e9. Enfin, pas tout \u00e0 fait. La ligne a \u00e9t\u00e9 conserv\u00e9e pour faire office de voie de garage jusque dans les ann\u00e9es 50. La gare des Convers a exist\u00e9 jusqu\u2019au milieu des ann\u00e9es 90 et abandonn\u00e9e avec le percement du tunnel routier de la Vue des Alpes.<\/p>

En termes de randonn\u00e9e, je pressentais que, malgr\u00e9 l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat historique, elle se d\u00e9roulait dans un cadre pas forc\u00e9ment idyllique. En effet, le fond du Vallon de Saint-Imier est un endroit particuli\u00e8rement d\u00e9sol\u00e9. En effet, on se trouve au fond d\u2019un vallon tr\u00e8s encaiss\u00e9 et la pr\u00e9sence de la route traversant les tunnels de la Vue des Alpes n\u2019arrange rien. Cependant je peux m\u2019imaginer que lors des fortes chaleurs de l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9, il doit \u00eatre agr\u00e9able d\u2019effectuer cette randonn\u00e9e, surtout si on continue la descente vers le Vallon de Saint-Imier.<\/p>

Depuis La Chaux-de-Fonds, on commence par traverser les Bois du Couvent pour suivre un sentier passant par le Reymond. Ce sentier est class\u00e9 dans l\u2019inventaire des voies historiques avec une importance nationale. Apr\u00e8s \u00eatre pass\u00e9 la bosse du Mont Sagne, le sentier balis\u00e9 invite \u00e0 monter dans un petit col pr\u00e8s de la Motte, pour descendre de l\u2019autre c\u00f4t\u00e9. Il suit alors un bout de la route de la Vue des Alpes. L\u00e0, tant qu\u2019\u00e0 devoir suivre la route, j\u2019ai pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 longer un autre bout de route pour rejoindre Boinod et prendre la route acc\u00e9dant \u00e0 la semi-autoroute.<\/p>

Le reste s\u2019est d\u00e9roul\u00e9 le long du sentier balis\u00e9 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la halte de La Cibourg.<\/p>
