Il y a longtemps, j\u2019avais entendu parler de la Cascade (et de la Grotte voisine) de M\u00f4tiers, mais je n\u2019avais pas eu l\u2019occasion d\u2019aller voir cet endroit de pr\u00e8s (ou bien je n\u2019en avais pas pris le temps). L\u00e0, j\u2019avais envie d\u2019effectuer une randonn\u00e9e pas trop longue, mais suffisamment pour avoir l\u2019impression d\u2019avoir accompli quelque chose. Et c\u2019est \u00e0 ce moment que je me suis souvenu de cette destination.<\/p>

M\u00f4tiers est un superbe village dans lequel on trouve quelques maisons anciennes remarquables. Parmi celle-ci, il vaut la peine de mentionner l\u2019Auberge de Six-Communes avec son enseigne surprenante mentionnant \u00ab\u00a0ici on loge\u2026 \u00e0 pied\u2026 \u00e0 cheval\u00a0\u00bb. A mentionner \u00e9galement la maison o\u00f9 avait log\u00e9 Jean-Jacques Rousseau avant de devoir fuir en pr\u00e9cipitation le village.<\/p>

Le chemin pour atteindre la Cascade et la Grotte de M\u00f4tiers est commun avec celui menant aux gorges de Po\u00ebtta Raisse. En effet, au d\u00e9part du centre du village, on emprunte la rue dans laquelle se trouve le mus\u00e9e de l\u2019Absinthe et la maison o\u00f9 avait log\u00e9 Rousseau. On parvient alors pr\u00e8s d\u2019une cluse ferm\u00e9e par un barrage anti-char datant de la derni\u00e8re guerre mondiale. C\u2019est avant cette cluse que le sentier pour la Cascade se d\u00e9tache de celui de Po\u00ebtta Raisse. On suit \u00e0 gauche un chemin longeant le Bied de M\u00f4tiers. On passe alors non loin d\u2019une r\u00e9surgence alimentant le Bied. Pr\u00e8s de cette r\u00e9surgence, on franchit le Bied en empruntant un petit pont et on ne tarde pas \u00e0 monter dans la for\u00eat pour atteindre le pied de la Cascade. Un petit pont permet de gagner, vers la gauche, la Grotte de M\u00f4tiers. Malheureusement, \u00e0 cause de la quantit\u00e9 d\u2019eau, je n\u2019ai pas pu aller visiter plus en avant\u00a0: il aurait fallu pour cela que je me mouille s\u00e9rieusement les pieds.<\/p>

Apr\u00e8s la cascade, un bon sentier monte \u00e0 travers bois pour rejoindre le haut de la cascade. Un superbe petit pont (la Passerelle de Riau), permet de franchir le ruisseau juste au-dessus de la cascade. Le point de vue vaut vraiment la peine.<\/p>

Au lieu de revenir sur nos pas, nous avons continu\u00e9 en direction de Vers-chez-Pillot, ferme qui se trouve sur le territoire du Canton de Vaud. A partir de l\u00e0, on est oblig\u00e9 de suivre un bout de route, qui, \u00e0 la belle saison, doit \u00eatre passablement fr\u00e9quent\u00e9e puisqu\u2019elle permet de rejoindre Mauborget ou Provence. Depuis le Couvent, une descente, assez raide par endroits, permet d\u2019atteindre Couvet.<\/p>

Il suffit alors de suivre l\u2019Areuse pour retourner au point de d\u00e9part.<\/p>
