<\/p>

Although I was aware that mid-May was early in the season to follow the bisses of the Baltschiedertal, I thought that their route should still be feasible. So, I planned to leave Ausserberg to follow the Niw\u00e4rch and return via the Gorperi. Not to mention the large amounts of snow left over from the previous winter.<\/p>

So, when I arrived at Choruderri, at the start of the Niw\u00e4rch climb, I came across a local who strongly advised me against the route, because enormous snow drifts threatened to break and create avalanches. He suggested I take the Niw\u00e4rch water diversion tunnel. That’s how I crossed the 1.5Km of this tunnel to reach out into the Baltschiedertal.<\/p>

Originally, I had also planned to go to Ze Steinu to follow the trail below that leads to the Gorperi water intake. However, there was a huge snowfield caused by an avalanche covering both trails and as I have always found it dangerous to cross such a snowfield, I went straight down to \u00c4lum.<\/p>

The Gorperi was in a much better condition than I had anticipated, except that when I passed the waterfall, I was thoroughly watered. Indeed, the amount of snow left at the altitude fed all the small streams.<\/p>

At the end of the Gorperi, I first went down to Eggerberg and continued down to Visp. It was the first time I had walked down to Visp from Eggerberg, but I never thought it would be so steep. Fortunately, the poles helped me in the descent.<\/p>
