<\/p>

The walk described here follows the crest of the Schwyberg. This crest is located behind the Berra, but from the Swiss Plateau it looks as if it is a continuation of the Berra. The Schwyberg crest joins the Patta peak and then changes direction to run towards the Berra. The Schwyberg marks the northern-western limit of the Singine Chaude (Warme Sense) valley. The name Schwyberg probably means “the mountain of the pigs (probably wild boars)”.<\/p>

The walk starts in Zollhaus (the customs post). This name makes sense because the Kalte Sense joins the Warme Sense, at the point where the canton border between Bern and Fribourg crosses the Singine. This border continues to follow the Singine until Laupen, with a small exception at Alblingen.<\/p>

After crossing the road, which is quite busy and leads to the Lac Noir and the Gurnigel, a short climb takes us to the various farms of Chnewis. The name Chnewis probably comes from Chneuwis, which means a place that is difficult to walk through and which is hard on the knees.<\/p>

After a succession of pastures and forests, we reach the Gurli inn. As is often the case in the lower mountains, this inn is a farm where, a long time ago, they started serving food. Continuing along the crest, we reach another of these inn-farms: the Gross Schwyberg.<\/p>

After this farm, a steep climb takes us to the top of the Schwyberg, at 1645m. The view over the \u00c4rgera valley and the Swiss Plateau is very wide. Further on, we follow a path along the slope to the Schmutzes Schwyberg. On the day we did this walk, the name Schmutzes Schwyberg was very appropriate (Schmutz means dirt), because the ground was very muddy.<\/p>

Continuing along the crest, we reach the last peak before the descent to the Lac Noir: the Fuchses Schwyberg. It is interesting to note that in the late 1970s, a chairlift was built, and then in the early 1980s, ski lifts were installed for skiing. All of this was dismantled in the early 2000s. Considering the chronic lack of snow in recent years, this was a wise decision.<\/p>

The marked trail first descends to a small pass near the Spielmannda and then follows the Seeweidbach to the lake shore.<\/p>
