<\/p>

The last time we hiked the Combe du Pilouvi, the previous months had been very dry. As a result, the Vaux Stream was reduced to a mere trickle and only a small amount of water was flowing. Therefore, the beautiful waterfalls were not as spectacular as they are during the rainy season. Since it had rained quite a bit before, we thought it might be a good time to go.<\/p>

We started at Le Landeron station and followed the marked trail to the M\u00e9tairie du Haut via Combazin. A few drops of rain greeted us at the start, but as we climbed, the weather improved. Looking at the topographic map, we were concerned that the road leading to Ligni\u00e8res would be quite busy. In fact, it is not, as it is closed to traffic. The path leading from the shores of Lake Neuch\u00e2tel to the Diesse Plateau is quite busy, however, and we could hear the noise in the distance.<\/p>

Upon reaching Ligni\u00e8res, we followed the Combe de Ligni\u00e8res, which is quite monotonous until it becomes steeper and changes its name to the Combe du Pilouvi. Pilouvi comes from the patois word for oregano, which would be quite plausible given the exposure, as the banks of the Vaux Stream are quite dry. A lovely path leads you past the waterfalls, the first of which is quite wild. Further down, after passing the foot of the Ch\u00e2teau du Schlossberg, there is another succession of waterfalls. These are a bit less wild, as they are more accessible.<\/p>

To reach La Neuveville station, it is worth passing through the old town. You will pass through the Porte de la Tour Rouge and the Porte de Rive with its magnificent gate.<\/p>
