It had rained that night and looking out of the windows of the hut, the atmosphere was not very inviting. Indeed, a thick fog bringing drizzle was hiding the view. The terrain seemed quite wet, seen from the Binntalh\u00fctte. Nevertheless, there was no question of changing the program: we were expected in Wald, in the Pomat.<\/p>\n

We therefore set off for the first obstacle of the day: the Albrunpass. In fact, speaking of obstacles, it must be kept in mind that the pass is only 150m altitude gain from the hut. We therefore arrived quite quickly at the pass, following a mule track beautifully paved in places.<\/p>\n

I had experienced the foehn from the north a few times. Well, it was not going to be any different: as soon as we had crossed the pass, we found ourselves in a sunny atmosphere where only a few clouds were passing.<\/p>\n

After descending a bit on the Italian side, we followed the path which crosses the hillside, passes behind a rocky headland and descends towards the huts of the Alpe Forno Inferiore. That day, we had not yet taken the animals up and we did not find the “smelly mud” mentioned by Corina Bille.<\/p>\n

From the mountain pasture, the path climbs along a ridge before entering a small valley leading to the Scatta Minoia. A short passage through large boulders allowed us to reach the mountain slope that we crossed to reach the pass.<\/p>\n

The first few hundred meters of the itinerary below the pass requires crossing a field of large boulders where the path is not always easy. Further down, we found the grass of the pastures before having to cross the marshy area of the Alpe Curzalma. We soon reached the Vannino dam. This dam, built in the 1920s, allowed the volume of a pre-existing natural lake to be increased and that is called the Lebendun.<\/p>\n

To avoid the tiresome descent to Pomat, mentioned by Corina Bille (“it\u2019s worse than a log chock”), we took advantage of the chairlift descending from Sagersboden to the bottom of the valley.<\/p>\n
