<\/p>

Le L\u00f6tschenpass a \u00e9t\u00e9, \u00e0 l\u2019instar du Schnidejoch, un passage important entre le Valais et Berne. En terme historique, on peut situer la fr\u00e9quentation du L\u00f6tschenpass entre la pr\u00e9histoire et le d\u00e9but du moyen-\u00e2ge. Par la suite, \u00e0 cause de changements climatiques importants, ces deux cols sont devenus difficile \u00e0 parcourir \u00e0 cause de la neige et de la glace qui les recouvraient. Cela explique pourquoi, comme au Schnidejoch, on a retrouv\u00e9 des objets forts anciens, perdus ou abandonn\u00e9s en ces lieux.<\/p>

Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 r\u00e9cemment, le franchissement du L\u00f6tschenpass pouvait pratiquement \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme course d\u2019alpinisme, le L\u00f6tschegletscher ayant une \u00e9tendue beaucoup plus grande. De nos jours, avec le retrait du glacier, on se retrouve \u00e0 marcher sur de la glace recouverte de roches, donnant l\u2019impression d\u2019\u00e9voluer sur un pierrier. Le fait que le cheminement le plus direct traverse un glacier explique pourquoi il existe un autre itin\u00e9raire montant directement depuis Sch\u00f6nb\u00fcel \u00e0 travers la paroi, pour gagner la moraine du glacier. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019une relique de projet d\u2019am\u00e9lioration du chemin du L\u00f6tschenpass remontant au 17\u00e8me<\/sup> si\u00e8cle.<\/p>

Ici, nous \u00e9tions partis de Selde en suivant le sentier balis\u00e9. En abordant la pente sous la Gfelalp, le sentier devient tr\u00e8s raide et ce n\u2019est que sur l\u2019alpage que la pente s\u2019adouci quelque peu. Un peu plus haut, on rejoint et traverse le petit plateau de Sch\u00f6nb\u00fcel. Apr\u00e8s le plateau, nous avons continu\u00e9 le long du sentier pour d\u2019abord monter en direction du pied de la paroi et de traverser \u00e0 flanc pour atteindre le glacier. Ce faisant, on doit traverser quelques ravines, qui pourraient s\u2019av\u00e9rer difficiles en d\u00e9but de saison, juste apr\u00e8s que la neige ait fondue.<\/p>

Nous avons alors travers\u00e9 le \u00ab\u00a0glacier\u00a0\u00bb pour grimper sur la moraine lat\u00e9rale. Nous avons alors suivi celle-ci jusqu\u2019au moment o\u00f9 elle vient buter contre des rochers. Nous sommes alors mont\u00e9s le long du balisage, d\u2019abord vers la gauche puis vers le haut, pour rejoindre un petit passage \u00e9quip\u00e9 de c\u00e2ble revenant vers la droite. Un peu plus haut, nous avons travers\u00e9 les derniers rochers avant que la pente s\u2019adoucisse nettement \u00e0 l\u2019approche du col. Il est int\u00e9ressant de remarquer que le sentier ne franchit pas le col \u00e0 proprement parler, mais son flanc est.<\/p>

A la descente, nous avons travers\u00e9 les pentes sous le Hockehorn pour rejoindre Lauchernalp. Nous en avons profit\u00e9 pour aller au sommet du Hockuchriz. Nous avions alors une vue plongeante sur le L\u00f6tschental, et malheureusement, l\u2019\u00e9boulement de Blatten.<\/p>
