After being a bit frustrated the previous day with the view, we decided to change our route to be able to enjoy a much wider panorama. So, we left from Valsainte to follow the entire ridge leading to the Berra. There is a numbered route that makes this loop; however, the proposed route goes directly to the Auta Chia. It is much more advantageous to first climb to the Balisaz and then join the summit of the Patta, even if it means a longer loop. One then has a beautiful view of the region of Lac Noir.<\/p>

From Valsainte, one first descends to cross the Javro. The bridge over this torrent represents the lowest point of the entire hike. Indeed, from this point (Les Reposoirs), one climbs on the left bank of the Javro to reach Grattavache-Dessous and the Balisaz. From this pass, one could easily descend to Lac Noir.<\/p>

Here, we followed the entire ridge passing by the Patta and joining the Berra. One then has magnificent views of the Swiss Plateau and the Fribourg Prealps. Only when descending from the Patta, one crosses a forest that hides the view.<\/p>

From the Berra, one follows a section of the mountain bike trail before plunging towards the Botteys. One then soon reaches La Cierne and Valsainte. For information, there are a few parking places near the charterhouse, but their number is limited. One must then either arrive early or find places along the roads.<\/p>
